Taking a break from the popular fluorescent colours and bold shapes of the 1980s that have filled the catwalks, we entered the Alberta Ferretti show, for a collection of feminine dresses in chiffon fabrics that were so delicate they almost appeared to float down the catwalk.
Rather than the monochromed prints and acid bright colours that our eyes have adjusted to over the past weeks, the catwalk was filled with romantic peach, antique rose, sorbet lemon and enticing vanilla.
The feel was part spring awakening and part endless summer with clothes alternating between pure romance, with the dreamy lightness of Grecian-goddess worthy draping and detailing, such as sequined appliqués, ruffled seams, embroidery and chiffon rosettes, to interesting layering and more structured elements like thin belts, which nipped in the waist, making sure the clothes were feminine without being fairylike.
