The hair experts at Redken reveal the inspiration behind Flannel’s RAFW show, Women’s Ready To Wear 2, and the Women’s and Men’s Ready To Wear show

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Pinterest

From “almost vampish” hair at Flannel to “summery and slightly undone” at Women’s Ready To Wear #2, the looks by Redken were sensational. See inside for more pictures, inspiration and how-to hints.

LOOK 1: “Wet masculine vamp” at Flannel

Inspiration:

“The texture is everything for the look at Flannel,” explained Jon Pulitano, Hair Director for Redken. “It’s inspired by a wet masculine texture through the front. It’s a refreshing and strong statement for women to wear their hair in a masculine way.”

“This is a look that fuses pop culture and modern trends – it’s almost vampirish with a much adored reference to the 80s.”

How to get the look:

1. Loosely part the hair whilst it’s damp and spray in Redken Guts 10 for texture and hold.

2. Whilst directing the hair back off the face to encourage a ‘cowlick’ at the front, dry the hair roughly, scrunching with your hands to encourage a soft, loose wave.

3. Distribute Redken For Men Stand Tough gel through the front section to keep it in place.

4. Finish with Redken Water Wax 03 through the lengths for a wet look finish that moves.

LOOK 2: “Summery and Slightly Undone” at Women’s Ready To Wear #2

Inspiration:

“This look reflects the freedom of Spring/Summer. The hair is fresh, textured and slightly undone whilst still maintaining defined elements of design,” says Philip Barwick Redken Hair Director.

Philip builds texture into two ponytails to create this look; these are then intertwined and looped together to create a beautiful design in the hair. It’s a look that’s fresh, contemporary and sophisticated.

How to get the look

1. Apply Redken Guts 10 to towel dried hair, section by section. This will help boost volume and give flexible, fullness and hold.

2. Blow dry hair using a large radial brush so that it’s smooth and straight.

3. Next, divide the hair from the top of the ears to below the crown. Lightly spray Redken Style Connection Wool Shake 08 on to lengths and brush out using a soft bristle brush to give great texture and airy softness.

4. Create a rough ponytail with this top section and secure with a hair tie. Gently back brush the pony tail and work into the bottom section to create a second ponytail. Secure with a hair tie at the nape.

5. Backcomb the bottom ponytail then twist and roll into a loose bun. Pin into place.

6. Gently ruffle the top of the head to loosen the hair and spray with Redken

Quick Dry 18 to hold style in place.

LOOK 3: ‘Madame de Pompadour” at Men’s & Women’s Ready To Wear Show on Day 3

Inspiration:

“The women’s hair style has a romantic, baroque influence to it with a contemporary twist,” says Lorna Evans, Redken Hair Director.

Lorna’s hair look references the Madame de Pompadour, with great height and cushion- like volume in the hair. The style is given a modern

accent by crimping the front sections to create a beautiful, soft texture.

How to get the look

1. Prep the hair with spraying Redken Spray Starch 15 onto towel dried hair for hold and heat protection.

2. Next double mousse the hair with Redken Touch Control 05 to build volume, texture and grip.

3. Divide the hair into two sections from ear to ear. Use a crimping iron to crimp the entire to top section. Once crimped, brush out with a soft bristle brush for airy crimped texture.

4. For the back section, tease the lengths and secure the ends with a thin hair tie. Roll the back section towards the middle of the head and pin into place for a cushion like effect.

5. Backcomb the top section for extra height at the top. Gently fold the section

back with any side lengths and pin place.

6. Finish with Redken Workforce 09 to hold style in place.
