Australian sweetheart and David Jones Ambassador Miranda Kerr is famous for not only being a Victoria’s Secret Angel and more recently strutting for top designers such as Balenciaga, but also her holistic approach to health and beauty. A picture of good health and we must admit gorgeous manners, Miranda is an advocate for the organic lifestyle. Rescu. talked to her about her health and beauty secrets.
Last October, Miranda launched KORA organic skin and body care online and at David Jones, so that Australian women could experience naturally sourced products that delivered exceptional results and were a pleasure to use.
RESCU: You have access to so many beauty products, what inspired you to develop your own organic skin care line?
Miranda Kerr: “I have literally tried and tested products from all over the world and I did not find a brand that I can honestly say I was loyal to or would use regularly. I have studied health and nutrition so I knew what I was looking for but was not able to find exactly what I wanted so the only solution was to create my own range.”
RESCU: Who in your mind is the KORA consumer and why would they choose these products over others on the market?
Miranda Kerr: “In my mind, as young as 15 or as mature as 45. She may not understand all of the benefits of using organic skincare but she is interested in learning more for the sake of her health and wellbeing.”
RESCU: Do you have any beauty treatments you can’t live without?
Miranda Kerr: “I can’t live without having a regular Oxygen facial it gives my skin the opportunity to really breathe. When I want to look my best I find a Body massage beforehand works wonders.”
RESCU: What is a great winter beauty regime that you follow?
Miranda Kerr: “I definitely moisturise a lot more and apply my body lotion in the morning after I shower and then again before I go to bed. To avoid dry skin I exfoliate my body in the shower three times a week and then also dry body brush daily.
I exercise daily but each day that might vary greatly. One day I will practice yoga on another I will have a session with my trainer Justin Gelband. With Justin we generally do high intensity cardio workouts like boxing combined with lightweights and bands. “
RESCU: What about your diet?
Miranda Kerr: “Even though it is tempting to eat heavier foods in winter I know that is often a mind game more than anything else. My diet remains fairly consistent in summer and winter (with the exception of some nice hearty homemade soups in winter) not because I am on a diet so to speak but because I know what I need to eat in order to keep my energy levels up and to remain healthy.
I make a point of always trying to eat lots of certified organic everything including greens, vegetables, steamed fish and chicken. My weakness in winter is my nan’s hearty steak pie, I don’t make it as good as my nan though!”
RESCU: How does travel affect your skin? Any tips for frequent travelers?
Miranda Kerr: “Travelling can leave my skin really dehydrated if I do not take the right steps to avoid it. My top tips would be drink more water than you would normally, moisturise your skin before, during and after you travel. “
RESCU: What do you think makes a woman beautiful?
Miranda Kerr: “A woman who smiles often and is confident and comfortable in her own skin will always leave a lasting impression. ”
