As Missoni poster girl, Margarita Missoni, freshly returned from a trip to the Burning Man Festival, posed happily for photographers in the afternoon sun, wearing an off-the-shoulder cropped silver top and sarong knotted skirts (this season’s Missoni of course), she murmured that the Missoni Spring 2010 collection was ‘all about raves and festivals’…
Yet as models appeared in the alfresco runway, there was no sign of the cut off denim shorts and Wellington boot combo that we see festival poster girl Kate Moss snapped in at raves and festivals.
Rather this collection was delicate, feminine and a little part granny chic. Think sequined wraps and stoles draped over a single shoulder, crocheted dresses, cropped tops, layered with knitted fabrics and worn with hip-skimming sarongs, finished with long, sleeveless vests and floating jackets, all in the beautiful fabric that Missoni is renowned for; weaved, knotted, and in selections of pastel lilacs, pinks and blues as well as bolder metallic, turquoise and lime.
