Backstage Pass
Ever wanted to know what it’s really like to work in the fashion industry? Think that fashion shows are all glamour? Well, for the truly hungry, and curious, out there here’s an offer that doesn’t come up too often. MCMPR, one of Australia’s leading fashion PR companies, is giving away the opportunity to work with its team for the whole of Australian Fashion Week (May 2–6). You’ll work backstage with the team on all of its shows, including Zimmermann, Yeojin Bae, Marnie Skillings and Gary Bigeni, and see first hand what goes into putting on a full-scale fashion show. It’ll either whet your appetite for more or take the gloss off completely. To be in the running, simply send in a photograph of yourself in your most fashion week–worthy outfit, and email to styleyourway@mcmpr.com.au. Then “Like” MCMPR on Facebook to check if your pic made it to their “Style your way to Australian Fashion Week” – the pic with the most “Likes” wins the experience. Voting closes April 27, 2011 at 6pm AEST. Get styling!

If only we all looked so glamorous doing the rounds at Woolies. Dita Von Teese was pap-snapped (as seen here on JustJared) doing the groceries while wearing her Dita’s Closet cardigan, a collaboration with Australian label Wheels & Dollbaby. The cute cardies have super retro appeal, with embroidered floral motifs and sweet Peter Pan collars. Do a Dita and pair yours with Capri pants and pointy flats, or add to a pencil skirt and heels for cocktail hour. Check them out at www.wheelsanddollbaby.com; diva style for $190.
’70s chic
Our Kylie has always known how to work a total look, even on her days off. I know I’ve been rabbiting on about the ’70s revival for winter, but here is a great example of a casual version of the look. The floppy felt hat is one of the must-have items for winter, and worn with flared jeans and the long scarf it’s the perfect finishing touch. By leaving the top untucked, she’s bringing a longer line to the body and making it less strictly retro. Kylie, we salute you!
Seeing Double
You’ve got to hand it to the Olsen twins, they know how to make an entrance. I’m not usually a fan of the pair’s style (although their fashion lines are actually super stylish), but I love how they’ve managed to add some continuity to two entirely different looks—all via styling and accessories. The wispy hair and matching sunnies and clutches pulls them together. I’m loving Ashley’s ladylike dress with the green fur wrap and classic stilettos. Mary-Kate’s shapeless coat over polka-dot chiffon dress, not so much.
