The Star, Sydney’s new hot-spot, is set to hold a special food event like no other on Thursday, 24 May, 2012, with guests invited to sample signature dishes from The Star’s line up of top restaurants, while rubbing shoulders with some of the world renowned chefs who created them.
This one-off event will be held in the beautiful lobby of The Darling Hotel and Spa between 6-9pm, with some of The Star’s popular chefs making personal appearances, including Stefano Manfredi and Adriano Zumbo.
For just $40 per person, guests will enjoy delicious tastings from The Star’s signature restaurants including Balla, BLACK by ezard, Sokyo, Bistro 80 and Fat Noodle, served with bubbles and cocktail samples and capped off with sweet treats by Adriano Zumbo.
THE MENU
Balla
Master of Italian cuisine, Stefano Manfredi, will be showcasing a selection of dishes from his modern Milanese restaurant, Balla, that helped the restaurant make Conde Nast’s Hot 50 new restaurants list for 2012. Dishes include ribollita fiorentina, a twice cooked Tuscan-style bread and vegetable soup, and porchetta, a slow roasted pork saddle.
BLACK by ezard
Popular Melbourne hatted chef, Teage Ezard’s restaurant will present mouth-watering dishes from his contemporary grill restaurant BLACK by ezard, including beef tartare with heirloom beets, mustard ice cream and puffed wild rice, and butter poached prawns with nashi pear salad with yuzu dressing.
Sokyo
Contemporary Japanese restaurant, Sokyo, will be serving chef Chase Kojima’s creations which explore beyond the usual confines of sashimi and sushi. Take for example the lamb maple miso with burnt baby eggplant or the tai yuzu honey with onion capers and crunchy miso.
Fat Noodle
The popular Vietnamese restaurant will present a variety of favourites from the menu including Queensland spanner crab rice paper rolls and spicy beef skewers with chilli and cumin.
Bistro 80
Bistro 80 will be showcasing its popular ocean shelf with a freshly shucked oyster station served with a variety of vinaigrettes and sauces.

Fuel will be serving mini burgers and Cantonese restaurant Lotus Pond will be making Peking duck pancakes. The master of desserts, Adriano Zumbo, will also be serving an array of sweet creations.
