A panel of beauty and skin care industry experts, including Rescu’s Founder and Editor, Bahar Etminan, came together to reveal the pluses and pitfalls as well as the fundamentals of anti-‐wrinkle solutions at Sydney’s The Laser Lounge.
The industry expert panel included Bita Beyzaee, Co- ‐Founder and Head of Client Services of The Laser Lounge, our very own Bahar Etminan, Editor and Founder of Rescu. com.au and Dr Bernard Beldholm, Cosmetic Surgeon at Cosmos Clinic. The panel sat down to discuss anti- ‐ageing skin care and ingredients, skin rejuvenation techniques and trends, the upsurge of male clients with anti- ‐aging skin concerns, along with the fads, faux’s and high and lows of cosmetic enhancements and surgery.
Bita Beyzaee mentioned that for Laser and IPL technologies, consumers should be checking, “where the machine was purchased from, who services them, and opt for medical graded over salon graded Lasers or IPL… as in general there are fewer chances of side effects and adverse reactions”. Finally the consumer should also check the qualifications of the technician and how much experience they have had working with the machine, as “the machine is only as good as the operator.”
When asked, “When is the right time to consider anti-wrinkle solutions?” Bahar Etminan referenced the significant number of women, average age being 25, who desire the treatments that 55 years old are having. She mentioned that the majority of 25 year old women have already dabbled in surgical and non- ‐surgical cosmetic treatments… 25 years olds are 3 or 4 years into having injectables, peels, micro- ‐dermabrasion and other preventative and corrective treatments. As industry professionals, we need to acknowledge this trend, and use our experience and understanding to educate consumers about the treatments and procedures they are considering.”
An interesting point of discussion brought up on the night, was the rising trend in males seeking anti-wrinkle solutions. Dr Beldholm stated, “the frown lines seem to be of most concern to our male patients… these concerns are being tackled at an earlier age using treatments such as dermal fillers and injectables.”
The Laser Lounge has recently partnered with the Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermal Science (AACDS), the only curriculum recognised by the cosmetic medical profession.
