TLC Biopic, Adam Levine’s Fragrance, Spring Breakers Premieres and Alicia Keyes Latest Venture

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Pinterest

In Hollywood, one star’s good idea quickly turns into a celeb-trend and one very 90s announcement has proved that the venture-du-jour is a biopic. Speaking of celeb fads, Adam Levine has jumped off his no-celeb-fragrance stance and straight on board the scent bandwagon.
Meanwhile, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson have been making appearances for the premieres of their highly-anticipated film ‘Spring Breakers’ and Alicia Keys has joined the Blackberry team.

Beyonce’s ‘Life is But a Dream’ premiered to American viewers over the weekend and now we have confirmation of yet another singer biopic in the works. This time it’s 90s all-girl R&B group TLC getting in on the action with a scripted, full-length film titled, ‘Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story’.
Nineties all-girl R&B group TLC are getting in on the biopic action with a scripted, full-length film titled, ‘Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story’.
The film isn’t exactly news – VH1 announced they were working on a biopic about the group back in December of 2011 but it wasn’t until now that the network confirmed the production and announced casting details.
Rapper Lil Mama will star as the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes, Drew Sidora will be playing ‘Tionne ‘T-Bonz’ Watkins and KeKe Palmer as Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas. The film was writen by Kate Lanier who also wrote the screenplay for Tina Turner’s biopic ‘What’s Love Got to Do with Is’ and Mariah Carey’s ‘Glitter’.
In a press release, T-Boz said, “There is so much to our story that hasn’t been told until this movie. Fans will be able to really understand the dynamic of the group and why that formula has not been able to be duplicated.”
Scroll down for a TLC flashback…

In 2011 Adam Levine sent out a tweet joking, “I also would like to put an official ban on celebrity fragrances. Punishable by death from this point forwards.”
It seems the Maroon 5 crooner has either gone back on his word or simply doesn’t consider himself a celebrity (we’re thinking the former) because he has now released not one but two scents!
The star has been talking himself out of his 2011 comments to everyone who will listen including ‘People magazine’ who he told, “I know there’s a stigma attached to it. A stigma that I full understand because I, too, hate the idea of a celebrity fragrance, absolutely, 100 per cent.”
Levine describes the new scents (one women’s edp and a men’s edt) as ‘understated and elegant’. The bottle designs are sleek and simple with microphone-like caps to top. Nice touch!

We’ve seen it over and over – a teen star hits their 20s and their desperate need to be seen as an adult sends them into a tail spin. Disney girls Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens are no strangers to this phenomenon and have certainly had their fair share of scandals but their latest attempt to claim adult hood is actually a smart one.
The pair are star in highly-anticipated film Spring Breakers – a film written by Harmony Korine, the writer behind full-on films like Kids and Gummo. If you’ve seen either of these films, you’ll know what to expect. If not, we’re warning you – this isn’t Disney anymore, Toto…
Selena and Vanessa are currently doing the press rounds for the film’s premiere and have been rocking some seriously amazing outfits.
Justin Bieber may have shed a few tears after seeing ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez in a super sexy Atelier Versace suit at the latest event in Berlin. Meanwhile Vanessa looked grown-up and glam in a sequinned floral gown. Their co-star Ashley Benson (of Pretty Little Liars fame) wore a sequinned gold gown.
Other co-stars James Franco and Rachel Korine were absent from the event.
We can’t wait to see this flick and decide whether Spring Breakers will help these girls can finally break free from the teen idol pigeonhole.

Alicia Keys has a new gig as Global Creative Director for Blackberry! The 14-time Grammy Award winner will be working closely with app developers, content, creators, retailers, carriers and the entertainment community to further shape and enhance the Blackberry 10 platform.
She said that after using the platform for ten weeks she felt inspired by its innovation and that, “I know the potential this platform has to help creative people be more productive, and help productive people be more creative.”
We can wait to see what Blackberry and Alicia have in store!
