LA based stylist, designer and trend-setter, Sophia Banks-Coloma, is Australia’s own go-to-girl for the hottest red carpet trends of the season. She shares which actresses put their fashion foot forward at the 84th Academy Awards with her list of top ten designer dresses!
Gwenyth Paltrow in TOM FORD
And yes, that needs to be in capitals- this was a fashion moment. I love her for daring to wear that. White is a new trend colour, but the cape- it was so old Hollywood and Tom Ford can do no wrong. Whether the entire world gets it or not, the fashion crowd will be talking about this for years!
Berenice Bejo in Elie Saab
I love the mint green, it is one of the colors of the moment and the amazing lace sleeve was sexy yet so elegant… so chic!
Jessica Chastaine in Alexander McQueen
Another amazing moment, she is so gorgeous and amazing, she wears this like a model right out of the McQueen Exhibition at the MET. The embroidery, the gold on the black…. another art piece. It was a bit of a risk and it paid off- FABULOUS.
Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive
The dress was made for her by Armani. I like it ’cause we need a bit of glam at the Oscars and we can always depend on Penelope to give us an old Hollywood moment.
Viola Davis in Vera Wang
Love the colour, she looks like a goddess in green and it fit her so perfectly, highlighting her curvaceous figure.
Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture
I like that she takes fashion risk and is willing to do something different. I especially love the long, fishtail trail.
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhar Muraid
J Lo knows how to do sexy and you can always rely on her for a new moment of ‘Wow!’
Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
I loved the colour and I loved the dress, I thought it was bold and not unlike her yellow choice a few years ago. Orange is going to be another color we are going to see on the carpet and the colour with the lips just stands out.
Wendi Mclendon-Covey in Simmons Couture
Well, maybe I am a little Bias as I dressed her, but I feel like the Oscars need these moments and we had a hand beaded Couture dress made.
This was a flattering princess style dress and looked gorgeous on stage as she presented.
Kristen Wigg in J. Mendel
I love the way the colour of the dress goes with her hair. This delightful dress was a softer side to the actress that I really enjoyed seeing.
