It’s a sleeper trend – but it’s gaining so much momentum that Rescu. thinks we’ll all be wearing inside-out prints by Christmas.

That’s right – anatomy is ‘in’. Skeletons, intricate nervous systems, veins – they’re all on the rise as patterns, and what used to be ghoulish or medicinal is now just plain cool.
The key, of course, is to play it chic rather than costume-ish.
The easiest way to do the trend by far is anatomy-inspired jewellery. Bone rings, skull earrings, skeletal necklaces – they’re all out there, and if worn one at a time rather than all at once they’re a spooky, serious twist to an all-black outfit.
It’s a trend which can span all ages, too – teens can play it up with neons and skull-and-crossbone manicures, while career women looking for an edge can buy a silver or gold miniature pendant or earring set of a heart or ribcage and add some sleekness.
You also have a choice between literal and surrealist – anatomy lends itself to both. Surrealism is generally a better bet for more formal occasions, where the hint of medical inspiration causes a ‘who’s that girl’ moment rather than a ‘what on earth is that’ one.
As for clothing, the sophisticated way to interpret the medical moment is in prints. Shift dresses and blouses are a good place for an X-ray inspired or skeletal print – but go for artistic rather than genuine, as it generally looks prettier. Avoid anything muscle-ish.
However, it can be worn all over – we’re loving gloves with hand-bone prints, tights with veins and ribcage T-shirts.
Make it a one-piece show, pair with some serious high fashion and nobody will accuse you of doing anything surreptitious after dark.
