Magic is making a comeback. From magic tricks to stunts and illusions, Channel 7 proudly calls itself ‘The Home of Magic’ and released its latest magical offering Tricked to an audience of some 1.94 million viewers at 7.45pm on Sunday night. In case you missed it, we’ll catch you up on everything you need to know about the Tricked tv show.
In the hit British show, magician Ben Hanlin goes undercover using slight of hand, mental powers and misdirection to pull epic magical pranks on your favourite celebrities, and even some unsuspecting members of the public.
Whilst we can’t claim to know the secrets behind Hanlin’s tricks, we can say that they are both impressive and highly entertaining, keeping audiences wondering long after the final credits have closed.
‘Ben Hanlin is set to shock, amaze and astound as unwitting contributors get their world turned on its head with his own brand of hidden camera magic in Tricked,’ says Seven.
You’ve still got time to catch the second episode this Sunday, which promises to be just as dramatic as the first, in which Ben Hanlin played an irreverent magical prank on British boy band Blue. Blue member Simon was in on the prank, whilst his three band mates were tricked into believing that he was in serious danger, tumbling towards a cliff in a rolling caravan.
‘I felt sick to my stomach and I felt helpless,’ said Blue’s Duncan, after the trick had been revealed. ‘I couldn’t understand why he wasn’t jumping out. That’s what I was shouting to him.’
Whether he’s dropping a shipping container on an unsuspecting celebrity’s car before making it reappear floating down a river, bailing out of a moving taxi then teleporting himself back into the drivers seat, or cutting up a livid shopper’s credit card before restoring it in a sealed bag of sweets – Ben’s tricks and illusions leave his victims speechless.
