A number of A-List actresses are vying to wear Victoria Beckham’s gowns to the Academy Awards.
The Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer has seen her dresses worn by stars including Eva Longoria and Kate Winslet and now actresses Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz have reportedly contacted Victoria to enquire if she will dress them for the Oscars.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “Although it’s a great place to be in, Victoria’s been working day and night to keep up with demand. She’s also preparing for New York Fashion Week and feels under enormous pressure.”
Victoria recently revealed she doesn’t follow trends and creates her gowns based on what makes her feel comfortable. She said, “When I started it was all about the corset dress. That’s what people associated me with, and possibly if I’m honest a sign of my own insecurities as well. But the older I get and the more comfortable I am in my own skin, the more I realise that to look great and feel great I haven’t always got to wear something tight. I don’t follow fashion and I don’t follow trends, I just follow my instincts and think what do I want to wear? What am I feeling for next season?”
David Beckham is proud of his wife Victoria’s fashion career. Victoria has won plaudits from the fashion world for her collections and her spouse says she deserves all her success.
Speaking at a press conference for his Bodywear collection for H&M, David said, “I’m so proud of what she’s achieved – to go from a Spice Girl to being taken seriously in the industry, she’s worked really hard and she deserves every success she’s had.”
Victoria has previously claimed she would be “incredibly nervous” to show her collections to husband David. The soccer star has never sat in on a showing of her clothes, and she admitted it is because she needs to focus on the work and would be worried about him.
Responding to who would be in her fantasy front row, she said, “My husband. David has never been to any of my shows as I’m incredibly nervous and I need to focus and concentrate.”
