The Annual Victoria’s Secret runway show is a fashion show like no other. What other brand can boast performances from the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z and Adam Levine as well as flashing disco lights, glitter galore and the kind of wild applause that’s usually reserved for concerts?
Because the huge hour-long show isn’t aired until the 29th of November, we’ve wrapped up the best stories direct from the runway.
The Show
Each year the show is divided into themes. This year the looks fell under six categories; Ballet, Super Angels, I Put a Spell on You, Angels Aquatic, Passion and, of course, Club Pink. There were 38 models, 69 outfits and 31 pairs of Angel wings down the runway at the event that is said to have cost a huge $12 million. Held at The 69th Regiment Armory in Kips Bay, New York this year.
The Models
Last year pregnancy stopped Miranda Kerr from walking the runway so her appearance this year was exciting in itself and Mrs Bloom certainly didn’t disappoint, putting those VS Angel wings back on with no hesitation and receiving a standing ovation as she strode down the runway in the $2.5 million diamond-studded fantasy bra by London Jewellers and an elaborate shell costume. Hubby Orlando Bloom sat front-row and stood up to cheer his wife on, looking as proud as punch.
Adriana Lima’s intense diet did the trick. The Mum of one looked smoking as she showed off a superhero look, a sheer black body suit and a seriously hot black and red ensemble.
Anne Vyalitsyna strode down the runway as boyfriend Adam Levine was performing and the two put on a very cute show. Wearing a blue and purple jewel-encrusted set, the Russian model was escorted down the runway by Levine who gave her a peck on the cheek as she posed.
It was Karlie Kloss’ first time down the VS runway and she absolutely nailed it. The teenager wore three different looks throughout including an incredible disco ball bustier that flared near the bottom and neon, light up wings. Her bubbly personality and sense of fun made her the perfect Angel and no one doubts she’ll be back on that runway next year.
The Performers
It wasn’t just the models turning heads on the glittery runway. With performances from Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Adam Levine scheduled, everyone was already on the edge of their seats anticipating the performers. And then Jay-Z made a surprise appearance and the show excitement hit another level.
Kanye West was first up on stage wearing a jacket from the just launched Versace for H&M collection. As the models walked the catwalk in superhero get-up, Kanye West performed ‘Stronger’ and dedicated it to his mother who died four years ago when West was originally scheduled to perform for the Angels, saying, “I lost my superhero, and now she’s my super angel.”
The audience truly lost it when West invited Jay-Z to perform ‘Niggas In Paris’ (changed to ‘Homies in Paris’ for the night) with him on stage. Jay-Z’s pregnant wife Beyonce was rushed to the front row and she looked on in admiration at her hubby.
Next up Nicki Minaj hit the stage in an elaborate cartoon-like ensemble and performed her hit Super Bass.
Finally, Adam Levine took to the stager and performed ‘Moves Like Jagger’, serenading girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna.
