Where can you go to find inspiration for your wardrobe in Sydney? We’ve got the down low on everything happening in fashion that is bound to nourish your imagination- and quite possibly fill any extra space you may have had lurking in your cupboards and shelves. Victoria’s Secret has announced the launch of a stand alone store in Sydney (thrilled- although we can already envision the queues…), Country Road celebrate 40 years with an extra special collection, and fashion photographer Byron Spencer brings his street style snaps to The Galeries for the month.

Victoria’s Secret Launches at the QVB
Victoria’s Secret are like the ‘Manic Pixie Dream Girl’ of lingerie. Do you know what that is? She’s the fantasy girl in romantic comedies who is enchanting, drop-dead gorgeous and simultaneously accessible and completely out of the leading man’s reach. She’s always dancing in the rain and cooking up pancakes for breakfast. She’s basically every role Zooey Deschanel has ever played. Well I’ve always felt that Victoria’s Secret is the MPDG for us Aussies. Sure you can buy online, but it’s not exactly to same as being able to touch and feel the stuff in person- let alone stage your own Victoria’s Secret runway walk in the change room. It’s the girl you have a wild fling with overseas, not the one you meet up with for a milkshake on the weekend.
That is all about to change, as Victoria’s Secret is set to open at the Queen Victoria Building on March 13.
The store is set to stock beauty products and accessories, with a small selection of underwear. Fragrances will be available on the beauty front, and accessories will include scarves, bags and sunglasses. It’s got us pretty excited, and also wondering; does this mean that a bricks and mortar lingerie store is on the way? Fingers crossed.

Country Road Celebrates 40 Years of Australian Fashion
It seems hard to believe there was a time when Country Road wasn’t a part of Australian fashion, doesn’t it? Ever since we can remember, Country Road has stood for an accessible kind of luxury- beautifully interpreting international trends, and making them affordable and wearable for Australian women. The brand opened its doors in 1974, which means it is turning 40 this year!
To celebrate, the brand is unveiling a series of collaborations, events and special store concepts throughout the year, including a new brand identity, presented in the new Autumn Winter collection. “Country Road has always has a fashionable yet relaxed outlook,” explains Managing Director Sophie Holt. However, the new collection seeks to bring a more evolved, high fashion aesthetic, with key pieces inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian design (echoes of Acne and Comme des Garcons).
We’re loving this fresh take on classic Country Road looks. Denim is all over the place (we love!), with biker influences arising in checked pieces and zipper detailing. The look goes both ways; the Country Road lady, in clean lines and airy blouses, and her more daring alter ego, in textural, layered looks inspired by the 90s revival.
We’re looking forward to hearing about what else is in store for us in 2014.

Byron Spencer x The Galeries Lane 4
We’re loving Lane 4 at The Galeries; our new go-to destination for interesting, innovative art in Sydney. We love that it’s outside a traditional art space, and we love that they are creating a new platform for Australian creatives to show of their work. Fashion photographer Byron Spencer‘s exhibition Expressways: Byron Spencer vs. The World captures the cutting edge in Australian street style. Snapping fashion designers, bloggers and stylists doing what they do best- looking rad, in a series that celebrates a slew of the urbanites who literally colour the urban landscapes with their personal style, and creative endeavours.
Running from the 28th January until 31st March 2014, the exhibition takes street style photography to the next level, using digital manipulation and incredible visual effects to create a feast for your eyes.
