We may be fashionable amongst friends; after all, us girls ‘get’ trends! But have you ever wondered what men think about the latest fashion we’re coveting? Rescu. caught up with the ever-stylish John Mutton, founding director of iconic Australian fashion label, Herringbone to find out what’s hot and what’s not, through the eyes of one very-fashionable gentleman.
And if that isn’t enough, he shared his tips and tricks for dressing your man, and let us in on his top three essentials for sophisticated and chic, office-attire.
Note pads out girls!
RESCU: What do you think of wedge heels?
John Mutton: Love them! Flattering to girl’s legs and they are summery and sexy
RESCU: Jumpsuits?
John Mutton: Love the shorts version, they are the best part of the 70s coming back.
RESCU: Harem pamts?
John Mutton: I like them, though I have an aversion to low cut jeans, so I see them as a much better alternative.
RESCU: One piece bathing suit?
John Mutton: It’s all about whatever a woman feels most comfortable in.
RESCU: Blue nail polish?
John Mutton: Not my favourite colour, I prefer a girl to be edgy with clothes rather than cosmetics. (We are closing our ears!)
RESCU: Red lipstick?
John Mutton: I like softer neutral tones for lips – the new nude look is great.

Power Dressing: Top Three Wardrobe Essentials For Career Girls
According to John Mutton, office attire is as easy as 1,2,3. To look professional and chic at work all you need is…
1. A well fitted sexy suit
Rescu. tip: Nudes and creams are very in right now, but once the temperature drops; maroon, charcoal and burnt orange will be the season’s most coveted colours.
2. A Crisp double-cuff shirt
Rescu. tip: Creases are a huge No-no! Always make sure you leave the house with a freshly pressed shirt. You will appear effortlessly chic and clean cut, ready to take on any challenge work throws at you.
3. A stylish pair of high heels – not court shoes.
Rescu. tip: We all know that high heels can get uncomfortable after a couple of hours. To the last the distance of your 9-5 workday, invest in gel cushion shoe inserts, to ease pressure on the balls of your feet.

Boy Talk: Make Your Man Look A Million Bucks No Matter The Occasion
We’ve all been there – dressed up for a night out at a fancy restaurant and your man ‘tries’ to walk out the door wearing a creased, too-old-to-be-legal t-shirt. Or worse, you go to a casual Sunday lunch and he is wearing a suit. Some men just don’t get it but John Mutton certainly isn’t one of them.
RESCU: What is the most important rule of dressing for the office?
John Mutton: Quality! Well-made shoes, with a properly fitting suit and crisp cotton shirt.
RESCU: How casual can you go on casual Friday?
John Mutton: You’re still at work. An Item jacket is essential, sophisticated and not as structured as a workday jack. Good quality semi-casual shoes are also a must.
RESCU: Most men dread meeting their partner’s parents, what is the best piece of fashion advice you can give them?
John Mutton: Dress for the occasion. If its dinner at a nice restaurant, wear a suit and if it’s a casual BBQ, a nice pair of shorts and an open neck shirt will do.
RESCU: Fool-Proof First Date Attire?
John Mutton: For a mid week, evening dinner date, I suggest a suit and an open neck shirt..
RESCU: What about a formal occasion?
John Mutton: If its black tie, a tuxedo with old-school black bow tie or a dark suit, crisp white shirt and black woven tie.
