Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have revealed they are inseparable, professionally, and Agyness Deyn admits she lied about being five years younger.
The design duo have worked together for the past 30 years – 23 years of those as a couple until they split in 2005 – and they admit they can’t see a future without their Dolce & Gabbana label.
Stefano told the Financial Times newspaper, “The worst time for us was when we broke up but kept working together. We thought about splitting up, but no. And the truth is, everything is exactly the same. But no sex! I can’t work without Domenico. Maybe one day there will be a Dolce collection and a Gabbana collection.”
However, Domenico said, “No. Never. This is my destiny.”
The Italian sartorialists say they have high hopes for their label and joked they wanted Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld to take over.
Stefano said, “We want to be a maison, like Chanel. But maybe we need to die first.”
Domenico added, “And then Karl [Lagerfeld] could come in and do the collections!”
The supermodel is actually 29, not 24 as she has insisted in the past but Agyness blames a former agent for the ruse.
She told the Guardian newspaper, “When I decided I would really do modelling I was like 18, and I think at the time that was quite old for a new face, so we knocked off a few years.”
In 2007, Agyness’ former classmates set up a Facebook group entitled ‘Agyness Deyn You’re Not 18’ in response to an article which said she had been born in 1989.
It said, “This group is for all those who realise that supermodel Agyness Deyn, AKA Laura Hollins, is not 18, or 21 or any of the other ages she claims to be. We know people who went to school with her and will verify she is 24.”
Agyness has recently made the transition from the catwalk to acting and says she is enjoying the chance to finally show her vulnerable side.
She explained, “For modelling you have to be such a strong person in a way – or seen to be a strong person. But in acting you have to get in touch with all the vulnerability that you carry.”
