it has been announced that Black Eyed Peas frontman, Will.i.am, will perform at Sydney’s pubic opening of Marquee – The Star on the 31st March and Zooey Deschanel’s costume designer on ‘The New Girl’ thinks she ‘sparkles’ in whatever she wears.
DJ, songwriter and producer, will.i.am from Black Eyed Peas fame, will take to the decks at the official public opening of Marquee – The Star, Sydney on Saturday March 31 2012.
This event marks the first opportunity for club-goers to experience Marquee – The Star and Will.i.am’s performance signals the beginning of many more impressive acts to come from the brand spanking new night club.
The Star has recently undergone an $870 million redevelopment and expansion and now offers more than 20 restaurants, bars, entertainment venues and cafes, a new five star boutique lifestyle hotel called The Darling, a 16 room day spa, a luxury retail collection, and upscale gaming areas.
There is no doubt Will.i.am will add some star power to The Star, having recently recorded with Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger, and is no stranger to mixing it up for a stylish crowd as he has DJ’d at the like of the Universal Music Brits party at the Soho House Pop Up in Tate Modern after the 2012 Brit Awards.
Zooey Deschanel “sparkles” in whatever she wears.
Costume designer Debra McGuire loves working with the actress on TV show ‘New Girl’ because she suits everything, and particularly enjoys picking out a wide spectrum of colours for her character Jess.
Debra said, “Everything is so darn cute on her. The hair, the face, the eyes … every time she puts something on it just sparkles. “[I wanted to] do something that we hadn’t seen on TV before,” she says. “I thought the best thing for Jess was to do primary colors – there’s something about those that I thought really worked for the character. So she’s sort of a mix of Crayola crayons.”
Debra admits one of her favourite things about working on the show is she doesn’t have to “play it safe” with the outfits she creates for Zooey’s alter ego. She told People magazine, “They’re all in primary colours, so I mix and match those with her outfits. I’ll pair a purple dress and green shoes, for example. We’re not playing it safe with colour.”
And Zooey enjoys her fun outfits just as much as the costumer does. Debra added, “We’re pretty much on the same wavelength. I haven’t had a situation where she didn’t want to wear something, or didn’t like something. I don’t put her in anything that’s not a favourite.”
