Ways to workout at home
Workout at home Tip #1
Consistency is key: Try to exercise at least three–four times per week for around 30 minutes, while eating healthy food options, and smaller portions for a flat tummy and trim thighs fast!
Workout at home Tip #2
Capitalise on those distractions: When working out at home, the TV can prove a major distraction, so why not incorporate it into your fitness routine? I.e. ditch the Tim Tams and instead lift hand weights (if you don’t have actual weights, lift cans of veggies!) or try doing some lunges, squats and crunches while watching your favourite TV show. Lifting weights not only burns calories, but also boosts the metabolism. Double win!
Workout at home Tip #3
No gym equipment? No worries: Instead, opt for star jumps, leg lifts, push-ups or crunches. Better still, grab a skipping rope and hop to it (skipping burns a whopping 1000 calories an hour, and is great for the heart too!) Jump for 5 minutes, rest, and then repeat.
Workout at home Tip #4
Get friendly with your couch (or stairs). If you’ve got stairs at home–use them! Stairs have fantastic cardio benefits! Otherwise, work your thighs, and bum using your couch or a chair with some leg lifts, or work towards achieving that flat tummy with some chair crunches. Workout at home Tip #5 Fitness DVDs are your friend: For those who need a little more structure in their at-home workouts, start building up a fitness DVD collection. Initially they’ll set you back around $50 each, but you can use them over and over again so they’re a great investment.
