Lores Giglio, celebrity session hair and makeup artist, Fudge Artistic Director Australia/New Zealand and Head Hair and Makeup stylist on Channel 7’s X Factor chats exclusively to Rescu. about transforming the contestants, her favourite celebrity clients and hot hair trend predictions for the summer!
Rescu: What have been some of your career highlights to date and what made these so special?
Lores Giglio: In the past 12 months I have been flown to Florence to do hair and makeup for Tammin Sursok, New York, Paris and Milan fashion weeks to enhance my on-trend skill, directing hair on Chanel 7’s X Factor and continually educated other hairdressers to impart this invaluable knowledge and experience. During this time I have worked with numerous celebrities, under immense pressure and through conflicting schedules which has ensured my technique is as varied and diverse as my portfolio.
RESCU: What have been your favourite celebrities to work with and why?
Lores Giglio: Guy Sebastian and Tammin Sursok– as they are both so humble and love what they do and make you feel like your family and a part of their lives not just a hairdresser.
RESCU: Do you prefer to work with long or short hair and why?
Lores Giglio: I’m happy with either, as long as it’s hair I have a passion for it!
What are some of your favourite current styles and why?
Lores Giglio: I’m loving the 20s’ wave at the moment as a hair style as it’s young and fresh yet elegant.
RESCU: What hairstyles do you think will be most popular for summer?
Lores Giglio: I think you still cant beat the the classic versatile beach texture that has evolved the past few years as its not just beach hair its hair that has body, movement and texture.
Which X Factor contestants have you achieved the biggest hair transformations with?
Lores Giglio: There has been a few as with both Angel and Joseph (Fourtunate) we took to white blonde and that was a challenge. Jasons hair we have cut it over the week and blowdried straighter and looks very mordern so his has really evolved. For Sammy, we balliaghe the ends, but I think on a styling level we have created and given Bella a statement look!! The styles that we have been playing with have been wonderful.
Do you have a favourite X Factor hair style so far and why do you like this particular style so much?
Lores Giglio: YES – BELLA as mentioned above Im loving this look and we have taken the shape and style and brought a modern touch to a classic beautiful 20’s do’
RESCU: What area of your job do you enjoy most: magazine editorial, advertising campaigns, TV work and why?
Lores Giglio: I like all areas otherwise I would get bored! Too much of one thing can drive you crazy! I love working on X FACTOR, it’s so creatively challenging and I get massive tasks thrown at me with not even a week turn around time, and then the next week starts again, and this goes on for three months – and that’s enough for me, I’m done! Until the next year of course, if it was all year round you would burn out and loose all creative drive.
