A new event kicked off in Sydney last night with the launch of Xchange, a forum for spirited debate, lively conversation and ladylike luxury.
Hosted by Daily Addict and Merivale, the evening took place in the Ivy’s lavish Den with sparkling refreshments supplied by Chandon. Invited along to begin the series of enticingly, fun weekly discussions were Rag Trader editor Assia Benmedjdoub and Australian designer Bowie Wong.
Fun was had by all as Wong, Benmedjdoub and founder of Daily Addict, Carrie Choo, debated over topics such as what the presence of Zara will mean for local brands, who sets the fashion trends (to which Wong replied “all of you!”) and the financial mathematics around running a designer label (box pleats aren’t as cheap as you’d think!).
The night finished up with a fashion show exhibiting a snippet of Diane von Furstenburg’s collection and a DvF themed lucky door price.
Quote of the night goes to Assia Benmedjdoub for her response to the question, “Who do women dress for?”
“Women dress for women. I think if women dressed for men we’d be naked or in La Perla. What man likes statement shoulders?”
A wonderfully humorous quote for a wonderfully glamorous evening.
