This week, Closet Case had a lust for luxury. And a desire to find a winter knit with an edge. Success! We managed to achieve both- delighting in the laid-back cool of Zoe Karssen, revelling in the reissued gems on stylebopwith Chanel Vintage Jewelry and licking our lips in preparation for the Australian drop of Longchamp AW13;
Zoe Karssen
A perennial Winter problem (at least for Closet Case) is the search for a winter knit that is a little out of the ordinary. Whilst it’s all very well to layer your grey knits and black jackets, there’s no reason not to take a creative tack with your layering this season. Zoe Karssen is my starting point for cool, cool-weather inspiration this season.
Founded in Amsterdam by design duo Zoe and Quince Karssen, the labels plays with the humble tee and sweatshirt, using tongue-in-cheek slogans, cartoon-cute imagery along with rock- and-roll and pop culture influences. With this combination of playful irreverence and insouciant, careless cool, its no wonder that the label has gained a cult following that includes “It” Brit girl Cara Delevigne,Keira Knightley, Mila Kunis and Elle Fanning.
We are loving the basic cut black knits with ghostly white bats and sweet grey marle long sleeved jersey shirt with a sparrow print- both of which sing “off-duty model.” But what we really have our eyes on is the candy pink skull sweater. A little bit punk, a little bit pretty, this is just the thing to complete our Winter layering looks; with jeans in a soft tone, a creamy cashmere scarf, and anything from biker boots to sneakers.

Vintage Chanel Jewelry
People may expound the classic elegance of Chanel again and again- but it doesn’t make it any less true! This season, our winter go-to look is going to be modern update on Chanel classics; a little black jackets, tailored trousers with a masculine edge, and simple, elegant accessories inspired by Coco Chanel herself.
Whilst her signature pearls and those immortal interlocked C’s are now part in parcel of the Chanel mythology, Coco was also known for her gold and diamond earrings and camellia flower accents. If we have our way our accessories will be from the Chanel Vintage Jewelry collection.
The collection makes selections from the house archives and reissues classic pieces that that encapsulate the simplistic elegance that was at the heart of the founding of Chanel. Luxurious metals and high quality jewels are realised in graphic shapes, with ornate charms and plenty of those double C’s. Our picks? The ‘Gold-Plated Word Drop Earrings’ (so on-trend with their bold logo lettering) and the ‘Gold-Plated CC Circle and Drop Necklace’ (somewhat ‘bling’ as well as timeless).

Longchamp AW13
Longchamp, those glorious French peddlers of classic totes and delectable leather goods are dropping their AW13 collection in Australian stores next month- and we have taken note. The range features an exquisite collection of Gatsby-themed leather accessories (has anybody NOT created a Gatsby-inspired range?); the women’s richly hued wallets and pouches entitled ‘Gatsby Exotic, and the rustic, sturdy men’s satchels named ‘Gatsby Sport.’
We are also quite enamoured of a soft cream lambskin jacket with a fox fur trim from the AW13 women’s collection, along the women’s ‘Gatsby Sport’ flat riding boot, with patent leather detailing and a thick buckle.
