Learn to Trust Your Intuition and Never Regret a Decision Again

Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Pinterest

By Kat John – Intuitive Mentor, Facilitator of the ‘Empower and Awaken Chakra Course for Women’

Intuition has been defined in Psychology as the process of knowing something without conscious reasoning. It is knowledge or a sense that something is going to happen or something feels to be different to what presents in reality. Scientists at HeartMath have conducted numerous studies for more than half a century, with the most recent definition including not only conscious perception of the mind, but the body’s psychophysiological system (i.e. the way in which the mind and the body interact).

Intuition in its most simple form is that voice that comes from somewhere inside. It’s that voice that speaks so quietly yet has the greatest impact. Intuition speaks from the heart, but as it is not tangible or visible in reality, the feelings are often ignored.

You and every person has intuition, there are no exceptions or exclusions. It sits there, trying to speak to you at every opportunity it can and just like exercising your body, intuition needs the same input. Within our physical body resides our energetic system called the subtle body. Intuition can be accessed through the four ‘clairs’; clair meaning clear in French. The main clairs consist of clairsentience (feeling), clairaudience (hearing), clairvoyance (seeing) and claircognizance (knowing). This is heightened extrasensory perception of our senses tapping in to the realm of intuition. It is clear that every person can access his or her own intuition due to the physical senses we experience.

Producers from the infamous documentary ‘The Secret’ have continued their efforts in creating ‘The Power of the Heart.’ Research conducted studies on healthy humans, connecting electrodes to the participant’s external chest and scalp. The experiment consisted of images being shown, which varied from lovely (fluffy white rabbits) to horrific (fatal accidents). Prior to the image being visually seen by the participant, their heart beat, adrenalin and pupils would either increase and dilate or decrease and constrict, as if the heart were preparing the conscious mind of what was about to come. They concluded that the heart began responding twenty seconds prior to the images being seen with the human eye.

Our subtle body houses the Heart Chakra, which resides in the centre of the seven Chakras. The Heart Chakra houses our emotions, feelings, and vulnerability: focusing on feminine energy. This allows for receiving, nurture, receptivity and emotional intelligence which all equates to intuition. It is here where intuition is at home and it is here where intuition rises.

My clients share their stories to unravel the past and move through their entanglements. The common trait in all my clients is that they didn’t trust their initial intuition within their situation, leading to their dissatisfaction. Each time they ignored or reasoned with their intuition, life began bringing in bigger tests until it reached a point where their physical reality was clearly not what they wanted to see. It is through opening and expressing your truth from the heart, which enables you to trust your intuition.

Here is how you can begin to trust your intuition.

  1. Listen and write.

When you feel or sense something that is ‘weird’ or ‘different’ this is the moment to listen in. If you are occupied at the time, make it a priority to enquire about the feeling when you have five minutes.

I encourage my clients to close their eyes for five minutes with no distractions then write down words, numbers draw images and names of people who come up. By taking this time to enquire, you set an intention to receive a message.

  1. Duration and reflection.

It takes twenty-one days to create a new habit so I advise to do this daily for three weeks. This seems like a stretch, however you will begin to see how often intuition speaks to you. At the end the each week, look over your writings and notice if there is a consistent pattern, theme or story. By reflecting, you begin to piece the story together.

  1. Trust and don’t give up.

Trust that what you are experiencing is real. When we create a new habit and push the boundaries of our set ways, the mind will become tired and begin its chatter of wanting to stop. As you open yourself and your intuition, you’ll begin to discern the truth and not question yourself so often.

  1. Ask for a sign.

I ask for signs frequently as they are a way of confirming what I’ve experienced. It may be numbers like 11:11, 12:12 or 4:44. Maybe you like a type of car, a particular song or a type of bird. Ask for a sign to show and one that will resonate when you see or hear it. Know that when you see your sign, you’re on the right path.
