- Hydrate First: Begin with a well-moisturised base to ensure smooth makeup application and to prevent products from settling into fine lines. “Hydrated skin creates the ideal canvas for glow-enhancing products,” Marcello advises.
- Less is More: Especially with illuminating products, use a light hand. Build up coverage gradually to avoid a heavy or cakey finish. “A little product goes a long way, especially on mature skin,” she notes.
- Blend Thoroughly: Blending is key to achieving a seamless, radiant look. “Taking time to blend each layer ensures that makeup looks like a second skin, not a mask,” Marcello explains. Using fingertips or a damp sponge can help achieve the most natural result.
- Highlight Strategically: Focus on high points of the face: cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and brow bone, for a subtle, lifted effect. Marcello recommends avoiding heavy application in areas with fine lines to maintain a fresh appearance.
- Set Lightly: A light dusting of translucent powder can lock in radiance without adding unwanted texture. “Setting just the T-zone keeps makeup in place while allowing the glow to shine through on the cheeks and high points,” Marcello suggests.
