In my opinion, there are few things better than checking in to a day spa or beauty salon and surrendering yourself to a therapist’s gentle ministrations. The only problem is knowing which beauty destinations most deserve your hard-earned dollar. In fact, as a beauty journalist the question I’ve been asked most through my career is, ‘Where should I go for the best salon and spa treatment?’ After much research I found that there was just no trustworthy resource that curates and reviews the best beauty destinations in Australia. So I set about creating Beauticate GO-TOs Spa & Salon Directory. Of course, after compiling a list of the top beauty spots I’m now something of an expert in professional pampering (it’s a tough job…) so when Bahar and the team asked me for my top three spa experiences I was only to happy to oblige…
1. For an indulgent hotel spa experience: The Darling Spa, Pyrmont
I love a good hotel spa. The upside being that they usually have a gym and a pool that you can use if you have a spa treatment, so you can spend the whole day luxuriating in their hospitality. The Darling is one of Sydney’s newest hotels and spas and the design is really luxe and beautiful. They have a stunning hamaam and state of the art gym, plus a very cool pool with daybeds so you can while away the afternoon after your treatment.

2. For a stylish weekender escape: Salus Spa at The Lakehouse, Daylesford
The Europeans believe in the cure-all power of bathing in mineral water, and The Lakehouse is smack bang in the middle of what is known as “spa country” – a region that is home to the largest number of naturally occurring mineral springs in Australia. This boutique property has the most stunning accommodations and restaurant, but the spa is truly something special. The deep hot tubs are set in little treehouses that look out to the picturesque lake, so you soak while taking in the beauty of nature.

3. For a seriously luxe facial: The Crown Towers Spa, Melbourne
Another hotel spa that allows visitors to enjoy the facilities is The Crown, and their most top shelf experience has to be the La Prairie Caviar facial. If you really want to feel like a queen, book out The Indulgence Suite – a vast-ceilinged room with an epic spa bath, steam room and shower that is yours to enjoy before your treatment. If that’s a little out of budget, the spa also boasts a series of special baths, showers and steam rooms that you can use post-treatment as well as a fabulous indoor pool and gym. It’s a great option for hen’s parties or mother/daughter bonding moments as you can hang out and relax together.
